Thistle div1 took on southend utd at bain park which was a very muddy sticky pitch and everyone knew it was going to be a tight game as southend are a tough team to beat..

the first half was an exciting affair with both teams sliding in on the muddy pitch, with southend going close but the keeper had it covered the they hit the crossbar 5mins later, thistle had there chances but both teams went into the break 0-0.

the second half was a simple team talk to get the guys to keep the ball on the ground and play quick one twos and feed nico and jay upfront.

so we kicked off and and it was much of the same with sliding tackles some good some bad and the makeshift ref made the calls fair for both teams.

thistle went close first with joe missing a great chance to score but the ball wizzed past his head with the goal begging and nico had a couple of chances as well, at the other end southend hit the bar again with darren glued to the sticky pitch..but it was southend who broke the deadlock with a ball behind the defenders as darren rushed out the striker played the ball to an southend player standing in an offside postion who tapped the ball into the empyt net with thistle players calling for an offside but it wasnt given!?..

thistle with there never give up attitude just got back to bussines and went about the job of getting the goal the needed and they did just that with jp scoring his 9th of the season with an left footed shot that sailed over the keeper and in off the post to make it 1-1 phew..

but southend nearly had the last laugh when a cross went into the box a bit closer than the keeper was exsepecting of which he sould of claimed, had a header at point blank range and he saved it which to the relife of the players..sorry guys my bad..

both teams held on for a fair draw and that put us back to second on the table.

player of the day went to darren in goal even with the nearlt cock up at the end of the game..made some good saves to keep it even stevens in the first half.
